The technical surf fish of LA. You see the tail, you put a sand crab two feet in front of it, and you wait without moving your feet.
The wash on sandy beaches — often inside 20 feet of the sand, tailing on sand crabs.
No species-specific minimum. Falls under the general ocean finfish rule: 20 fish combined, no more than 10 of one species (T14 CCR §27.60). CDFW SoCal beach guide lists June–October as the corbina window. Malibu, Santa Monica, Dockweiler, Manhattan, Hermosa, and Long Beach sand are the beat.
Public-pier fishing does not require a license; beach fishing does.
