Malibu Pier / Malibu Surf

Malibu Pier sits at the boundary of open surf and a small kelp-adjacent structure, giving anglers two options in one trip: work the pilings for calico bass, or walk the adjacent beach and sight-fish the wash for corbina and barred surfperch. West of here, Point Dume State Marine Reserve is no-take; the adjacent SMCA is mostly spear/pelagic. Stay oriented with the CDFW MPA map before you walk west with a rod.

Malibu Pier is a CDFW public pier (no license on deck). Surf and rock fishing next to the pier requires a license. Point Dume SMR is no-take.
