Habitat around Los Angeles

Rocky reefs and deep structure, 60–400+ ft, reached from San Pedro, Long Beach, and Catalina boats. Some nearshore species from kayaks and Palos Verdes kelp outside MPAs.

How LA anglers actually fish them

2026 RCG complex (rockfish + cabezon + greenling): 10 fish combined per person. Sub-limits: copper 1; vermilion/sunset combined 2 in SoCal; canary 2. No minimum size on rockfish. No retention of cowcod, yelloweye, bronzespotted, or quillback. Boat-based seasons and depths change; the Southern Management Area table is the live source. Descending devices are required on floating craft.
