Castaic Lake

Castaic is the county flagship bass reservoir — deep, clear, and holding largemouth around its many coves, docks, and drop-offs. Striped bass roam the main basin. Winter CDFW trout plants and a resident catfish and crappie population round out a year-round fishery. CDFW §5.00 lists Castaic Lake at 15-inch minimum / 5 bass; the lake recreation guide still posts that number. Confirm before you keep a 13-inch fish. Fishing from launch ramps and docks is prohibited per park rules.
