Lake Balboa

A small, calm neighborhood lake in the Valley, Lake Balboa is an easy, low-pressure spot to introduce a beginner to fishing, with carp, bluegill, and green sunfish willing to bite light tackle. Not a CDFW trout plant water in the same way Legg and Hansen are — come for panfish and carp, not for a truck dump of rainbows.

What you'll find here

Regulations reminder

Size limits, bag limits, seasons, and MPA rules are set by CDFW and can change in-season. Public-pier license exceptions (CCR 1.88) apply only on qualifying structures — not on the beach next to them. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with CDFW.
