A straight, open-coast pier between Manhattan and Redondo. It fishes more like Venice than like King Harbor: mackerel and bonito when the bait is in, barred surfperch and corbina in the wash at the foot of the pier, and a real (if occasional) halibut from the end. No kelp forest, just sand and pilings.
CDFW public pier on the open South Bay sand.
Hermosa Beach Pier is a CDFW public pier. Adjacent surf requires a license.
Size limits, bag limits, seasons, and MPA rules are set by CDFW and can change in-season. Public-pier license exceptions (CCR 1.88) apply only on qualifying structures — not on the beach next to them. This is an independent site and is not affiliated with CDFW.
